Zoo Atlanta: Hidden Gem In Atlanta!

Zoo Atlanta brings you closer to the animals with amazing exhibits and new areas!

Zoo Atlanta

Last week on my way through Atlanta, the family and I headed over to Zoo Atlanta to check it out and see how the zoo compared to some of the other zoos that we have visited in the past. I wanted to show you just what we experienced and see why this is a must do the next time you are in Atlanta!!

Zoo Atlanta is located in the heart of Atlanta, near the old home of the Atlanta Braves, Turner Field. This zoo is a sanctuary for locals to get away and escape into nature and to see some amazing animals that you cannot see at most zoos in the USA! We had the chance to look around for a few hours and experience some of the animal exhibits and also attractions for the kids.

Zoo Atlanta

First, this zoo is known for its Giant Panda population. Currently, there are only four places you can see Giant Pandas in the United States: Washington, DC, San Diego, California, Memphis, TN and Zoo Atlanta in Atlanta, Ga. Zoo Atlanta is a part of the Giant Panda Species Survival Plan and has successfully breed Giant Pandas for our kids to enjoy! This zoo has both indoor and outdoor areas for the pandas so you can see them regardless of the weather in Atlanta!

Zoo Atlanta

We also enjoyed the new Scaly Slimy Spectacular: The amphibian and Reptile experience, which is the new reptile house at Zoo Atlanta. Not only is this area almost completely indoors with a ton of interactive components for the family to enjoy but its one of the first LEED Gold certified amphibian and reptile houses in the country! Here you can see some of the 60 different species of scaley and slimy residents of Zoo Atlanta up close and learn more about them!

Lastly, I wanted to talk about some of the fun activities for the kids! Zoo Atlanta has a train, climbing wall, carousel,  ropes course, and more activities to keep your kids and young at heart busy! In the summer, the kids can also enjoy the splash pad to cool off while experiencing the natural beauty of the zoo!

Zoo Atlanta

Overall, Zoo Atlanta was a hit for my family! We loved the layout of the zoo, the amazing animals, and just how much there was to see and do! To learn more about Zoo Atlanta, make sure you check out their website here!

It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart and on your body. You take something with you… Hopefully, you leave something good behind.
