Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year! I love the chill in the air, sweater weather, and of course the haunted attractions. As spending the last 10 or so years in Orlando, Florida, I have become used to the mainstream haunted attractions of the theme parks. These haunts utilize big-name movies and top-of-the-line props, but one thing they lack is intense and in your face haunt scares!

When I was visiting the Bourbon Trail in Kentucky, I wanted to check out a few haunted attractions and one name kept popping up as a must-visit from friends as well as online searching. That place is The Haunted Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky. This place is known for one thing, intense scares where the actors not only push boundaries with foul language and grotesque scenes but also have the ability to touch you!
We arrived around 11 pm on a Saturday night, and I am not kidding, the line was between 2-3 hours long. Luckily, I had front-of-the-line VIP (which I highly recommend purchasing) to help expedite your time in line! We were taken in a small group (5 of us total) and were told we were going to be given special treatment.

Special treatment is not something that you want to hear at this place based on the warning signs around the property. This place utilizes water, oil, paint, shock therapy, hand binding, and even waterboarding to really push your limits of what you can (hopefully) handle!
The experience itself lasts around 20-30 minutes and was the most intensive haunted attraction that I have ever been a part of. These people know haunts and what scares people to their core and they do a damn good job of it! Based on the lines and amount of people who come multiple times a season, others feel the exact same way that I do!

Lastly, I want to give a heed of warning. If you come to this attraction, make sure you wear clothing that you not only don’t mind if it gets dirty but also possibly ruined. After my 30 minutes in the house, I had to toss my shirt from the stains and the smell that was on it.

If you are looking to really push yourself this Halloween season, run don’t walk, to The Haunted Hotel in Louisville! To learn more about this killer attraction and to purchase tickets in advance (again front of the line is the way to go here) check out their website here!
