Did you know that the Central Florida Zoo has more to offer than views of great animals? They also have a small water play area for kids, giraffe feedings, a petting zoo with feedings, & a zipline/overhead obstacle course! Recently, I got to experience the Zoom Air Adventure & it was awesome!

This experience was the most terrifying, most thrilling, and most fun thing! Upon arrival for check-in, I was given my wristband which lets the staff know which courses you will be climbing. There are 3 different courses: the Kids course, the Uplands course, & the Rain Forests course. The Uplands course is divided into 2 parts so that you can take a break in the middle, if needed. The Big Zip upgrade is also an option which includes the Uplands course along with the 2 big zip lines of the Rain Forest course plus 1 obstacle. This is the option I chose.
After check in, I reported to the harness house which is wear I received my harness & gloves. An instructor assisted me into my gear & gave me a short intro class to teach me how to use my harness on the course & how to do the zip line. Once I demonstrated satisfactory use & understanding of the equipment, I was allowed to begin. The instructor kept a watch on me the entire time that I was on the course & offered helpful hints when I got a little confused.

The Uplands course has tons of different obstacles. Some included tight ropes, swinging logs, cargo nets, & zip lines, of course. It was so fun to be up on the course!! I found the obstacles to be challenging & it was scary being up so high. I thought it was thrilling and also very beautiful because the course is built into the natural forest on the grounds of the zoo. Sometimes it felt like I was climbing trees. My favorite obstacle was the tight rope! It was so scary but turned out to be really fun. However, I utterly loved the zip-lines!! I loved them because it felt like I was flying & was absolutely the best thing I have ever done! It was so thrilling to go down that first zip-line. What an unforgettable experience!
After I completed the Uplands course, I was allowed to proceed to the big zips of the Rain Forest course. The Big Zips include 2 different zip lines. Both are 500 feet long & 50 feet in the air. You can choose to do the whole Rain Forest area or just the Big Zips. These are the scariest, most terrifying, most fun zip lines! At first, I was super excited then the realization hit halfway down & I was scared to death. It really was the most incredible thing that I have ever done!

Kids must be 34″ – 60″ tall & at least 4 years old for the Kids course. It is $18.25 plus tax. Kids can add on a second round for $11.95 plus tax. The Uplands & Rain Forest courses are only for guests over 54″ tall. The price for the Uplands course is $28.25 plus tax. All of the Rain Forest course can be added for an additional $22.95 plus tax or you can add just the big zips (like I did) for $13.95 plus tax. To get on the course guests must be wearing sneakers & comfortable clothing. You should also remove jewelry, tie back your hair and secure glasses. Once you are on the course, you cannot get down until you are finished, so make sure to grab a drink and go to the bathroom before you get started.
