Wild Florida welcomes 2nd sloth baby!
On May 22, Wild Florida welcomed a brand new baby sloth to its Gator and Wildlife Park in Kenansville. This is the second two-toed sloth born at Wild Florida to Ana and Guy. Their first baby, George, was born exactly two years ago.
Wild Florida shared the news during a Facebook Live broadcast. Both mom and baby are doing well and will remain in a secluded nursery to bond and ensure the baby is healthy and nursing properly. They will then be moved to an exhibit in the Gator Park where the baby will stay with mom for about a year.
“We’re so happy to welcome this beautiful baby,” says Sam Haught, co-owner and co-founder of Wild Florida. “We are fortunate to have become so successful in the care of these amazing creatures. The Middle of Nowhere has become a sloth destination and Wild Florida has established itself as an expert in the care of these wonderful animals.”
Wild Florida will hold a naming contest once the sex of the baby sloth is determined.
Wild Florida is offering free admission to the Gator and Wildlife Park for the remainder of 2017 to celebrate the attraction’s 7th anniversary. Add to the experience by getting up close and personal with one of their many sloths at Wild Florida during a Sloth Encounter where you will learn more about their daily routines and natural habitats, as well as get the opportunity to snap a #slothie (sloth + selfie).
Wild Florida Airboats and Gator Park, which opened on Lake Cypress in 2010, focuses on educating individuals on Central Florida’s natural resources.
