Welcome to Miami Cozumel Is My Favorite Place on the Island

Some places do more than impress you. They stay with you. Welcome to Miami is one of those places. Located on the East Side of Cozumel, this spot sits along a stretch of coastline known for its natural beauty, untouched shoreline, and quiet escapes far from the busy, tourist-packed downtown.
This is the side of Cozumel where the island breathes. Wide open views. Crashing waves. Fewer people. More soul. And tucked right into that scenery is Welcome to Miami, a place that somehow manages to feel laid-back, welcoming, and unforgettable all at once.
Yes, It’s Easy to Get to and Worth the Ride
Let’s clear this up right away. Welcome to Miami Cozumel is easy to get to by taxi, and you will not regret the ride. Any local driver knows exactly where it is, and the drive itself becomes part of the experience as the scenery shifts from cruise port crowds to raw coastline and open sky.

If you are the kind of traveler who likes to say you saw the real Cozumel, this is the ride you want to take. Also remember, I have a killer private driver for you!!! Check him out here!
The Mojitos That Ruined All Other Mojitos for Me
I do not say this lightly. The mojitos at Welcome to Miami are the best mojitos I have ever had. Fresh. Perfectly balanced. Dangerous in the best possible way. This is the kind of drink you remember long after the glass is empty. Don’t just ask me, Facebook groups and regulars to the island all agree! The Mojitos are out of this world!!!
But it is not just the drinks. The people who work here are some of the most accommodating, kind, and genuine humans you will ever meet. You are not treated like a customer. You are treated like a friend who finally made it back.
Why It’s Called Welcome to Miami
The name always sparks curiosity, and the story behind it fits the vibe perfectly. Welcome to Miami was inspired by that bold, colorful, carefree energy people associate with Miami Beach, blended with the raw, natural beauty of Cozumel’s East Side. It is playful, inviting, and a little unexpected, just like the island itself.
Once you are there, the name makes sense. The music, the colors, the energy, and the warmth all come together in a way that feels familiar and brand new at the same time. Now, I dont know how true it is, but I also heard that a boat full of people escaping Cuba once washed up on the shoreline and they thought it was Miami. Whichever is correct, it fits and the vibe is amazing!!!
Finding Comfort, Friendship, and a New Beginning
This place holds a deeper meaning for us. On our last trip to Cozumel, our hearts were heavy. We had just lost our two old dogs back home, and that kind of heartbreak follows you everywhere, even to paradise.
One afternoon, while spending time with Ismael, a story I shared in another Cozumel article, we found ourselves at Welcome to Miami. What started as a casual stop turned into something unforgettable. That is where we met our future pup. Our little Joanie.

We knew instantly she was meant to be part of our family. The only catch was time. We had to wait until she was old enough to come home.
Heading Back to Cozumel and Bringing Joanie Home
This February, I will be back in Cozumel for media work, building a professional website for Welcome to Miami thanks to my Marketing agency and finally bringing Joanie home with us. From loss to healing. From heartbreak to hope. All tied to this special place on the East Side of the island and the people who welcomed us with open arms.

Welcome to Miami Cozumel did not just give us a great day at the beach. It gave us connection, friendship, and the start of a new chapter.
