Meet Matilda, a bright and brilliant little girl in a troubled world, who thinks she is a lousy little worm. This little girl, born to an unkind family must discover what makes her so special and gifted. Matilda spends most of her time reading books at the library where she tells stories to the story- loving librarian Mrs. Phelps. She attends school in order to evade her home troubles, only to find even more and somehow worse problems at her new school. Most of the new troubles come from her child- hating headmistress Miss Trunchbull. Miss Trunchbull is known to punish students in her Chokey, which is a tiny cupboard filled with spikes and nails, even if it’s not right. With the help of her friends and her wonderful teacher, Miss Honey, Matilda finds a special gift deep down inside her. In order to overcome several obstacles, Matilda must harness her gift and intelligence to conquer those who try so hard to bring her down. Does she have the power to fight back against all the odds stacked up against her? Or will Matilda be bullied at both her new school and her household?

Matilda the Musical is based on the book by Ronald Dahl and winner of several 2013 Tony Awards. I fell in love with this award winning show from the first song! Tim Minchin did a wonderful job with the music as it is remarkable and catchy and will keep you dancing in your seat. The set is breathtaking and the choreography amazing. It’s no wonder this show is so popular! The cast does an amazing job and Matilda is sure to knock your socks off! I found myself wanting even more when intermission hit, and never wanting the show to end. You can see how much the cast loves performing this show as the energy fills the entire theater from start to finish. This is definitely a show I recommend to families with children of all ages, as they can all identify with characteristics found in each of the characters of the show! I just loved everything this show had to offer, and I’m sure you will to. This is not a show you want to miss out on!
