Ever want to jump into a fish tank and swim with the fishes? You can do just that at RumFish Grill at the Guy Harvey Outpost in St. Pete Beach, Florida!
As you all know, I love animals and awesome experiences, so you can imagine my excitement when RumFish Grill invited me to come swim with the fishes in their 33.500-gallon fish tank! The tank, which was featured on Animal Planet’s hit show Tanked, is the focal point of the dining room of RumFish Grill. They have an experience called Swim With The Fishes where you can live your dream of jumping into a tank full of fish, stingrays, and a Green Eel and snorkel with these amazing animals in crystal clear water!
Our host was Captain Tim and he is one of the main fishermen and awesome hosts for Swim With The Fishes! After check in we got a tour of the tank from the outside chatting about the show, the tank, and all the Florida fish you can see inside the tank. We even chatted about the 7 foot long Green Moray Eel named Frankie (which is short for Frankenstein).
After our tour on the outside, we took a behind the scenes tour of the holding tanks, the filter system and saw what it takes to keep and maintain such a beautiful tank! We then met Kourtney who was in charge of the upkeep of the fish and animals inside the aquarium. I was really impressed with the knowledge and the expertise of both Captain Tim and Kourtney on the tank, the fish, and making sure we had no questions about our experiences.
After a quick safety briefing and shower for the protection of the animals, we found ourselves inside the tank. The equipment that they let you use takes all the fear you may have away. You are given a mask, snorkel and a floatation vest to make sure you stay on the surface of the tank. Make sure you check my video of my experience below!
I have to say that Swim With The Fishes at RumFish Grill has to be one of the most unique and fun experiences I have had in a very long time! The water is crystal clear which allows you to really enjoy the beauty of the fish that live in the tank. It is also awesome to be able to look out into the restaurant and the viewing window and see your friends and family! I know that I will want to go back and Swim With The Fishes again at RumFish Grill at the Guy Harvey Outpost.
