The Silver Spurs Rodeo Returns to Kissimmee this weekend for 3 days only!
Cowboys, get your chaps and hat ready! The Silver Spurs Rodeo returns to Kissimmee from February 19th-21st, 2016. The rodeo, which is a Osceola County tradition, returns for 3 performances this week which also coincides with the Osceola County Fair! The rodeo is the largest rodeo south of the Mississippi river. I spent an afternoon with some of the pageant queens and rodeo cowboys to see just what goes into the rodeo.
First off, here are the details of the rodeo:
Friday Feb 19th- 7:30pm
Saturday Feb 20th- 7:30pm
Sunday Feb 21st- 2:00pm
Ticket prices are just $15.00 per person and kids under 10 are free!

There are 8 different events at the Silver Spurs Rodeo which are:
- Bull Riding
- Bareback Bronc Riding
- Barrel Racing
- Saddle Bronc Racing
- Steer Wrestling
- Team Roping
- Tie Down Roping
- Mutton Bustin’ for the kids!
One thing you probably don’t know about the Silver Spurs Rodeo is the fact that they are a non-profit organization with only one paid employee! All the proceeds of the rodeo are given back to the Orlando community. The money from this rodeo will help families that are battling with breast cancer here in the Orlando area!
I got to spend some time with Tater Porter who was the 2000 PBR World Champion! Porter, who is a local police officer now, retired from bull riding and rodeo in 2007. In his career, he has won over 1 million dollars in prize money! Porter spent some time with me to show me just what goes into bull riding. He walked us through the process from the time the bull is selected a few nights prior to the rodeo via lottery until the cowboy tries his luck for that 8 second ride!
One thing is for sure, the Silver Spurs Rodeo is not only a staple here in Osceola County Florida, but also a tradition!
I would like to thank Tater Porter and the rest of the cowboys, queens and staff at the Silver Spurs Rodeo! Make sure you check out the 136th Silver Spurs Rodeo this weekend at the Osceola Heritage Park!
