Yesterday, SEA LIFE Orlando allowed the media to preview their amazing aquarium which will be opening to the public on May 4th. If you have never experienced a SEA LIFE Aquarium then you are missing out! The SEA LIFE brand is about education and conservation by utilizing fun, interactive, and hands on experiences for the entire family!
Starting off, here are some details that you will want to know! The admission price for SEA LIFE is 25 bucks by itself or can be bundled with The Orlando Eye and Madame Tussauds. One attraction like I stated before is 25 bucks, 2 attractions is 39, all three attractions is 49 and you can do all 3 attractions and also Legoland Florida for only 99 a person! Also SEA LIFE Orlando has over 5,000 creatures that call it home from Green Sea Turtles to Sharks and stingrays! SEA LIFE Orlando also states that it should take around 90 minutes to experience this aquarium however today without looking at everything and running through the attraction it took me 70 minutes. I feel like I could easily spend 3 or 4 hours here!
All SEA LIFE aquariums are set up with the same mindset. You dive into the water and go into the depths of the sea, then slowly make your way to the coast (which is of course is the Florida Everglades here by Orlando!) Through the different exhibits and areas you come face to face with sharks, rays, fish, turtles, jellyfish and more!
One of the main focuses for this aquarium is the shark tank that showcases both a 180 degree walk through tunnel and the 360 degree walk through tunnel which allows you an unrestricted view of the creatures and animals located within the tank such as sharks, rays, grouper, and sea turtles. This by far was one of my favorite exhibits located in SEA LIFE Orlando for sure!
As far as the kids are concerned, SEA LIFE Orlando has a ton for them! Every exhibit has an interactive element from games, to posters, play spaces, crawl tunnels and even a touch pool at the end to allow your kids to not only play and have fun, but to learn while they do it. SEA LIFE Orlando does education better than most aquariums that I have come in contact with. Today some divers were in the tank holding up a welcome sign and the kids all got a kick out of interacting with them, giving them high fives and more!
For adults, starting May 4th there will be a behind the scenes tour that can be added on to your ticket that allows you access to the food room, quarantine tanks, and view of the tanks that many will never see. This tour will last 20 minutes and can be added on for only 5 bucks a person! If you want a more personal tour, a member of the education or dive team will give you an hour tour behind the scenes for only 25 bucks! I know that I cannot wait to get back to SEA LIFE Orlando to experience the tour!
Overall, I think SEA LIFE Orlando brings a much needed service to Orlando. Many people have asked me why I think people should go to SEA LIFE Orlando instead of just going to Seaworld. Well here are my reasons that I think you should go to SEA LIFE Orlando when you are here in Orlando!
- Sealife is a TRUE aquarium that focuses on fish not just mammals. No large animals will be seen here such as dolphins or whales.
- Education and conservation is preaches and taught throughout this entire attraction.
- Amazing displays and special effects are used in conjunction with the education piece for a fun and meaningful learning environment for sure!
- Its covered and air conditioned! No need to worry about the weather forecast or the heat index for the day since SEA LIFE Orlando is indoors and air conditioned!
- PARKING AT I DRIVE 360 IS FREE!!!
In conclusion, SEA LIFE Orlando is a great attraction to not only the residents of Orlando but also those who come visit! I Drive 360 is revitalizing not only the view of International Drive but also a way to bring locals back to the heart of the tourist area! I know that May 4th is going to be a great day for locals and visitors alike!
