Science of Wine kicks off this Saturday at the Orlando Science Center!

Science of Wine

Whet your palate and stimulate your mind at one of Orlando’s largest wine events on Saturday, April 30 at Orlando Science Center. Now in its sixth year, the Science of Wine is not just another wine tasting, but an oenological odyssey with presentations on multiple aspects of wine growing and tasting, cooking with wine and more! Thanks to presenting partner Southern Wine & Spirits, this fundraiser for Orlando Science Center offers guests the opportunity to sample more than 150 fine wines that will be paired with delectable dishes from 30 culinary partners, plus entertainment, live music, a silent auction and more!

From 7 p.m. – 10 p.m., there will be plentiful gourmet and casual food offerings to accompany the wide range of wine selections. Culinary partners include local favorites like Cask & Larder, Hard Rock Café, Hawkers, KASA Restaurant & Bar, The Ravenous Pig, Yak & Yeti Restaurant and so many more! Guests will pair these amazing dishes with fine wines from the world’s most important wine regions, dazzling your senses and piquing your curiosity whether you are a novice or a wine aficionado.

Now it wouldn’t be called the “Science” of Wine without adding some unique educational wine experiences! Tickets to the wine seminar presented by Julie Pepi with Southern Wine & Spirits have already sold out but there will be several informal presentations throughout the evening, including cooking with wine demonstrations in Dr. Dare’s Lab!

Put on your lab coat and cook up some fun! Retro Rad Television Chef Emily Ellyn is hard at work testing her latest hypothesis.  Can her favorite adult beverage be remixed into a familiar frosty treat? Using the scientific method, Emily will formulate a Peanut Butter and Wine Jelly Snow Cone for a fun, delicious throwback to your childhood science experiments.

Concerned your love of wine will interfere with your wellness goals? Learn how to “cook” up a deliciously healthy dessert using wine! Kristine Thomas – chef, health and wellness educator, and founder of Welli Desserts – will educate guests about the health benefits of wine and serve up samples of some of her delectable treats. This educational demonstration will provide a fun and innovative approach to whole foods and will combine wellness and innovation to highlight good nutrition and healthy eating.

Delight in educational presentations, wine and food tastings and more at the Science of Wine fundraiser benefiting Orlando Science Center’s mission to inspire science learning for life.
