Painting With A Twist Sarasota is bringing out the artist in each and every one of us one painting at a time!
We have all seen Painting With A Twist in our hometowns but I honestly never thought about attending a class. There were three reasons why I wasn’t really interested in painting which was the fact that I’m colorblind, I have no artistic ability in my body, and I didn’t want to paint anything I thought was dumb. I was recently approached by the owners of Painting With A Twist Sarasota for me to come check them out so I decided to see what I really thought of the class.
First off, I was surprised to see that they have some really cool licensing from companies such as Disney and more. Painting With a Twist Sarasota even offers a class where you can paint a picture of your pet (which is super popular and fills up super quick)! I chose to paint a picture of the Skyway Bridge which is located in St. Petersburg and is one of the first bridges I crossed when I moved out to Sarasota.
The company offers a ton of different paintings from canvas painting to wood to other objects such as wine glasses. The classes themselves were fun and relaxing and had a party feeling to them. You are allowed (and encouraged) to bring snacks and wine or beer to class because the more you drink, the less you care and the less you care the better you paint!
Our class lasted 2 hours with a break in the middle and were lead by an amazing instructor. Our instructor sat up on the stage and walked us through the class step by step. I will be the first to say that I was skeptical of how I was doing because yes I am colorblind. 100% colorblind. I did advise my instructor of this and she walked me through the colors and where they were on my plate so I didn’t fall behind and could paint without worrying.
My painting turned out amazing if I do say so myself and honestly, I can say that I would love to go back and do Painting With A Twist Sarasota again! They have just announced that they will be doing The Lion King soon and I cannot wait to go back and do some of the Disney paintings!
