Morimoto Asia Review: Changing Disney Springs

Morimoto Asia

Morimoto Asia is changing Disney Springs (for the better)!

Iron Chef Morimoto is known around the world for his masterful culinary skill, precision and amazing food. Here in Orlando, Morimoto is also known for the genius behind the new restaurant Morimoto Asia at Disney Springs at the Walt Disney World Resort! I had the chance to sit down and try some of the food options and speak to the head chef here at Morimoto Asia.

Morimoto Asia

Morimoto Asia is a Pan Asian concept restaurant focusing on amazing quality food that is both filling and delicious. I got to sample some of the amazing food here and I will let you know more about it but first I want to comment on the restaurant itself!

The restaurant, which is two stories, is very elegant and fresh. A lot of detail went into this concept from the dining rooms, private dining rooms, bars and sushi area in the restaurant. The main focus for most is the amazing chandeliers that hang from the ceiling of the restaurant. Overall, the restaurant is very modern and beautiful and is inviting!

When it comes to the food I had the chance to try out the sticky ribs, tuna pizza, sushi, dumplings and Peking Duck. The sticky ribs, which are one of their most popular sellers consists of 3 pork ribs, cilantro, and a hoisin sweet chili glaze. These fall of the bone ribs packed a huge flavor and made me want to come back for just them!

The tuna pizza came on a crispy tortilla with tuna sashimi, tomato, jalapeño, and anchovy aioli. This dish was better than I expected and the tuna had phenomenal quality and flavor!

The sushi I had was the Shrimp Tempura. This sushi contained shrimp, asparagus, spicy mayo, avocado and came with the choice of white or brown rice. I went with the traditional white rice for my sushi. This dish was filling and one of the best rolls I have had on Disney property!

Next we had the Pork Dumplings which had pork, napa cabbage, and garlic chives inside. There was also some dipping sauce that came with the dumplings. I liked the dumplings, however I wish there was more of them to enjoy!

That leads us to the traditional Peking Duck. The Peking Duck at Morimoto Asia is not the traditional Peking Duck because they serve not only the skin but the actual duck meat as well. The duck blew me away with its amazing crunch flavor on the outside and the tender duck on the inside. I highly recommend the duck when coming to eat at Morimoto Asia! The precision cutting of the duck was reason enough to try it!

That leads us to dessert! Coming to a Pan-Asian concept restaurant I was expecting some traditional japanese or chinese dessert but we had the churros… yes you are reading this correctly. Iron Chef Morimoto has churros on the menu. First off the churros were amazing!!! They came fresh cooked with a side of vanilla cream and a tube of Nutella on the side! The churros were to die for and I will be coming back for this alone the next time I am at Disney Springs!

Morimoto Asia

I asked the chef about the churros and found out why they were on the menu. I had no clue but Morimoto loves the Disney parks. He comes with his family a few times a year and one of his favorite Disney snacks is the churros! When asked why he decided to put it on the menu he said “Morimoto Asia is at Disney. I love churros, why not have churros at Disney!”

One thing is for sure… Morimoto Asia has really stepped up the game for the food scene at Disney Springs! I know beyond a doubt that I will be back to try some of the other food here! Next time you come to Disney Springs, make sure you check out Morimoto Asia and let me know what you think!
