Merlin Unveils Orlando Eye, Madame Tussauds, SEA LIFE Aquarium LEGO Structure at IAAPA

Yesterday, Merlin Entertainment Group unveiled a lego model of The Orlando Eye, Madame Tussauds Orlando and SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium at IAAPA. The model which stands at 8 feet tall and 9 feet wide is composed of over 60,000 LEGOS and took over 160 hours to complete! This model is going to be placed at MiniLand USA at the LEGOLAND Florida Resort. Todd Andrus, who is the head of marketing for the 3 newest attractions coming to the I-Drive 360 complex, said this “this is the first 3D visual representation of the new complex! We are excited to unveil this expansive and comprehensive LEGO model as we move toward opening in spring 2015.”

Poised to become Orlando’s newest icon, the 400-foot Orlando Eye observation wheel provides a new way to experience Central Florida. Day or night, guests are lifted away in a bubble of serenity above the hustle and bustle of International Drive to take in the stunning views of Central Florida. SEA LIFE Aquarium offers a new wave of immersive underwater experiences with colorful fish, rays, sharks and other creatures in floor to ceiling displays, bubble tanks, touch pools and a 360-degree underwater tunnel. Known for its strong conservation efforts, SEA LIFE also offers educational components for marine life enthusiasts. Madame Tussauds Orlando is rolling out the red carpet for celebrities from film, television, sports, history, pop culture and more with its incredibly detailed and lifelike wax figures, providing a new experience that’s family fun with a celebrity twist!

Also at the announcement was more information on the LEGOLAND Hotel which will be opening in 2015 as well. This five-story, 152 room hotel is going to immerse guests into the world of LEGO which brings children’s imaginations to life! The hotel, which is merely footsteps away from the main gate at LEGOLAND is going to be a huge addition to the LEGOLAND Resort. LEGOLAND Florida Resort General Manager Adrian Jones states that “The addition of the hotel provides guests the opportunity to extend their stay and explore LEGOLAND Florida Resort for more than one day giving them the ultimate family experience.”
