Marlow’s Tavern Review:
Orlando is known for more than just the Mouse and Harry Potter. We are known for our amazing selection of food, cool hang outs, and yes a ton of amazing places to grab a few drinks at the end of a long day. We went out to check one of these awesome spots and wanted to bring the news to you! Marlow’s Tavern has two locations here in Orlando, Winter Park and International Drive in the Pointe Orlando complex. Marlow’s Tavern is an all-american tavern that brings you top notch gourmet food in a warm laid back environment. Jason went out to the Winter Park location to see what all Marlows had to offer!
Atmosphere:
This restaurant had a great vibe to it. The Winter Park location had a nice dining area, couches where you can have drinks with friends or wait for your table, and two bars. One of the bars was outside on the patio (covered and air conditioned) and looks into the restaurant which gives you a awesome perspective. I loved the amount of TV’s also in and around the bar areas so you can enjoy a drink with some friends and watch the game at the same time! Ok, now that we have that out of the way, lets move on to the star, the food and drinks!
Appetizers and Drinks:
Jaca and I started out with some drinks. I chose the Summertime Watermelon Margarita off the limited time Red, White, and Brew menu (which is running until July 28th). This margarita has Herradura Reposado Tequila, Fresh Watermelon Syrup, House-Made Sour and Fresh Lime. Jaca had the Blueberry Buck which contained Hangar One Blueberry, Fresh Lime, Simple Syrup, Barritt’s Ginger Beer and Shaved Nutmeg. The margarita was extremely great, refreshing, and loved the watermelon!
We started our food with the J.T.’s Kettle Chips. This appetizer has crispy potato chips crowned with Gorgonzola cheese, bacon, roma tomato and scallions. These chips had great flavor, and the cheese and bacon really stood out in this dish. It was a large appetizer that could be shared by a family of 4. We then had the Firecracker Shrimp. This dish had crispy tempura shrimp with cracklin’ spicy sauce and sweet chili sauce. The shrimp were well cooked and the sauces were great! We mixed them together to have a great mix of sweet and spice! I liked the shrimp more than the chips, but I am a huge shellfish fan!
Entree:
For a main entree, Jaca had the shrimp and grits. This dish had white cheddar grit cake, spinach, roma tomato, shallot and roast tomato beurre blanc. Jaca thought the dish was good, and that the grit cakes were wonder and full of flavor. The shrimp were also great quality and the sauce paired nice. She did think the garlic was a bit strong. I had the Kansas City Strip from the Red, White and Brew menu. The strip came with a twice baked potato and some fresh grilled asparagus. The steak was great and full of flavor. The potato was also great! This meal should be on the full time menu due to the flavor alone!
Dessert:
For dessert Jaca had the Warm Chocolate Cake. The dish had milk chocolate soaked chocolate cake, warm pecan & “jack” syrup with hand scooped vanilla ice cream. Jaca said this dish hit the spot and had everything she loves in a dessert. The pecan syrup was a nice addition to the dessert! I had the creme brulee. The brulee had a nice flavor and a sweet crust on top. It also came with some fresh berries which was a great touch.
Overall:
Overall, Marlow’s Tavern is a great restaurant here in Orlando. The prices were good, the drinks were awesome, and the food was top notch. I see my friends and myself coming here for a dinner and drinks and unwinding from the week. This place has a small tavern feel with a laid back vibe, however the food was gourmet quality. The staff was friendly and went out of their way to make sure that we were OK, and were having a good time. If your either on International Drive, or in Winter Park be sure to go to Marlow’s Tavern: great food at an affordable price! Have you been to Marlow’s? What did you think? If not what would you want to try? Comment below!
Looks great, this will be my next one to try, next time I’m at The Pointe! (Adobe Gila’s is my usual go-to there, or Funky Monkey).
