Kono Pizza is serving pizza in a cone, and its amazing!
Florida Mall in Orlando has a wide range of shops, restaurants and snack shops to keep you going. I recently heard about one of their newest patrons, Kono Pizza. Kono Pizza is not your traditional pizza due to the fact that the pizza is baked into a cone! I was asked to come do a review and I am so glad that I did! Lets dive into this amazing little kiosk to see the magic built into a cone!
Kono Pizza cares about 3 things. The first is amazing dough. The dough is imported from Italy and is one of the highest quality dough that can be found here in Orlando. The second thing they care about is freshness. The sauce is made fresh and all the meats, cheese and vegetables are locally grown. The third thing is that customers are happy… but we will get back to 3 in a bit!
When I arrived we got a sampling of what they have to offer. Traditional cheese, pepperoni, a meat-lover of sort as well as a chicken parmesan pizza. Just as promised, the pizza is all encased inside a dough cone that helps make this food portable while shopping as well as hold the flavor and heat in! After just one bite, I was hooked.
My wife is a pizza snob. She is from the North East and comes from a huge family of Italians. When I say she is a snob on pizza, I mean it. There is only one place in Central Florida she will eat pizza and was worried taking her with me. To my surprise, we now have two places that she will eat pizza in Orlando. She said the dough was great, and the sauce was one of the best she had ever had! The quality of the meats and cheese also came out in the cone pizzas.
If you are looking for something cooler, Kono Pizza also has cold subs such as the Club and my favorite, the Prosciutto, tomato and mozzarella cone! Both were packed full of fresh meats, cheese, sauces and a ton of flavor all in the cone crust that I love!
Dessert? Yep they have that as well.. and yes IN A CONE! We tried the cannoli, tiramisu, and Nutella and strawberry cones! Im glad my family has different taste buds because we all had different favorites!
Not feeling a dessert cone? They also have gelato that is made from an Italian from his secret family recipe that has been in the family for a long time. The gelato has a ton of flavor and is very smooth. Our daughter especially loved the cookies and creme.
Now that I have that out of the way, lets get back to number 3. Kono Pizza cares about their customers. I have not met such a nice of man as the owner James. James went above and beyond to make sure that my family and I were happy with our food, the quality and his brand as a whole. Sometimes this comes across because I am a food critic, however I saw James do this for everyone he encountered while I was there.
At the end of the day, we will be coming back to Kono Pizza. My wife loved the pizza, Teagan, our little one was bonkers for both the pizza and dessert, and I loved everything from the flavor to the brand! Kono Pizza is going to be around for quite some time! If you are in the Florida Mall soon, check out my friends at Kono Pizza by Dillards! If you do eat there, tell James I said hey and that Orlando Fun and Food sent you!
