Star Wars weekends is an extremely popular event every year at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This year, Star Wars weekends are every Friday, Saturday, & Sunday from May 16-June 15, 2014 and are included with your regular park admission. 2014’s celebrity host is James Arnold Taylor who has voiced many animated characters including Obi-Wan Kenobi on “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.” In addition, many other celebrities from the Star Wars movies & series will be in attendance throughout the event!
A fan favorite for many is Darth’s Mall located between Toy Story Mania! and the Studio Backlot Tour. Here you will find exclusive merchandise available only during Star Wars Weekends such as pins, artwork, apparel, & collectibles. Book signings & special artist signings take place here as well. Housed in Darth’s Mall, the Star Wars: D-Tech Me experience allows you to create a custom Star Wars figurine using your image. The line for Darth’s Mall can be quite extensive & merchandise does sell out during the event.
Other special events to mention are celebrity autographs, special shows & presentations by celebrities, Padawan Mind Challenge (trivia game for kids), Legends of the Force Motorcade & Celebrity Welcome, & Symphony in the Stars as the evening finale.
Due to the popularity of the event, you should arrive at the park early. Entrance is allowed at 8:30am, however, the park does not officially open until 9am. The information desk for the event has been located in the past near the Star Tours attraction, across from what was formerly Drew Carey: Sounds Dangerous. This is where you will sign up for trivia contests as well as ask any event questions you may have. A plethora of Star Wars characters can be found throughout the park for autograph & photo opportunities including Jedi Mickey, Leia Minnie, Queen Amidala, R2-D2, Stormtroopers, Chewbacca, Ewoks, &, of course, Darth Vader, just to name a few. Many guests enjoy dressing in costumes for the event as well. So feel free to get in the spirit & don that costume!
This year, the Rebel Rendezvous will mark the start of Star Wars Weekends! This is a ticketed merchandise event on Thursday, May 15. Those in attendance will receive one day early access to Darth’s Mall, special meet-and-greet opportunities, & a limited edition recruitment pack which includes hat, tumbler, lanyard, medal, & pin.
