Jason traveled to Winter Park last week to eat at Italio Modern Italian Kitchen. This is a quick service Italian restaurant set up like Chipolte or Moe’s Southwest Kitchen. The concept is simple. Start out by picking either a pasta bowl (regular or wheat), a piada (an Italian wrap), or a salad bowl. You then pick your choices of meats, sauces, and vegetables. The awesome thing about this restaurant is that you can be in and out in under 5 minutes! The food is already prepared to be put together (don’t worry though, the food is fresh and tastes amazing!) and you will be eating in no time!
We started out with a calamari appetizer as well as an Italio stick. The Calamari Misto was fresh, hand-cut and breaded calamari strips tossed with hot cherry peppers and served with their signature lemon-herb vinaigrette. The Italio stick has your choice of cheese or pepperoni served with basil pomodoro sauce. The calamari was yummy and had a nice kick to it! The pepperoni stick was delicious and the sauce was killer!
Jason and his family then sampled the pasta bowl and the piada. They were both amazing! The meats were cooked well with a good amount of spices to them. The sauces were very flavorful and the veggies were all fresh and crisp! The piada was also awesome! It was cool to see a wrap that had pasta and everything else mixed in with it! To drink, we had San Pellegrino Italian Soda, which is imported and great! They also had beer, wine, imported water and more!! To finish up our dessert we had Cannoli Chips which came with a sweet cream layered with chocolate!
Overall, this place is great and delivers what people want! Great Italian food, fast and cheap!
