Over 30,000 kids are diagnosed with a terminal illness each year here in the United States. Organizations such as Make A Wish help grant these children a wish, and it comes to no surprise that most of them want one thing, Orlando, Florida. Luckily for those children there is Give Kids The World. Since the opening of Give Kids The World in 1989, they have hosted over 132,000 families that are suffering a life threatening illness.

Give Kids The World village is more than just a village with a place to stay, a cafeteria, and some activities. It is a refuge for both the kids with the illness and their families. It is a place where no one judges the children and where the families can let loose for a week and just focus on what is most important.

At the Blogger Bash we got a tour of the brand new Towne Hall, which is over 50,000 square feet! This building was a much needed addition to the village so functions could go on even if it is raining. Not only is Towne Hall a huge meeting space, but it also hosts the new dinning hall! Here kids and their families will eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner free of charge thanks to corporate sponsors such as Boston Market, Perkins and Papa Johns.

We also learned more about the challenge that Kevin Bacon brought to the village! Last week Kevin went up against one of the kids in a six second ice cream eating challenge! Winner had bragging rights, and loser had to donate 6 bucks to Give Kids The World. After the challenge was over and the smoke cleared, Kevin Bacon ended up donating his 6 bucks because once again the kids won at Give Kids The World!

If you live here, or are coming to visit I would like to invite you to spend some time at Give Kids The World. The entire village is run by volunteers and donations. I love going to Give Kids The World and volunteering because I know they are a great cause, and I get a ton of fulfillment out of it. If you don’t want to volunteer, I want to challenge you to the six second ice cream challenge!!! To learn more and to donate your money, click here!
