Calling all runners! The 6th annual Gingerbread Run 5K presented by Aaron’s will be held at Give Kids The World Village in Kissimmee, Fl on November 8th, 2014! This year the popular dinner show Medieval Times will join the fun as the starting & ending point of the race. The King, Queen & Knights of the Roundtable will be on-hand for the event! The race will then traverse through Give Kids The World Village, which is less than a mile away.
The race will take runners through the 70-acre resort bringing them face-to-face with families they are helping! Runners will see an enchanted castle, a snoring tree, magical bubbles, & the world’s largest CANDYLAND game. GKTW President Pam Landwirth tells us that the race “brings people from all walks of life to experience firsthand the love & joy that permeate our Village. It touches your heart to see our precious wish children & their families rooting for runners as they cross the finish line.”
The race is, of course, a family-friendly event with live music, Zumba warm-up, Kidz Zone with face painting, balloon animals & a slime zone by Nickelodeon. You’ll see lots of characters as well such as Gingy from the Dreamworks’ Shrek movies, Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer & Spongebob Squarepants. Also on hand will be GKTW’s Mayor Clayton, Ms. Merry, & Murphy the Gingerbread Man.
To help raise awareness to those outside the Central Florida area, GKTW also announced a social media campaign called “Traveling Murphy.” Everyone is encouraged to post a selfie with a Murphy cut-out & be a “virtual runner.”
