A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder opens to packed Dr. Phillips Center!
If you want to laugh until you cry, this show is for you! A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder opened tonight at the Dr. Phillips Center. Tony winner of the Best Musical for 2014- this musical has something for everyone.
I’ve seen my fair share of broadway shows, but I didn’t know much about this one going in. Assuming from the title that there would be some love accompanied by murder, I had no idea I would laugh and cry as much as I did.
This show- set in the early 1900’s in London, follows the life of one underdog, Monty Navarro, and his rise to fame and fortune. He has just found out that he is in line to be heir to the family fortune. The only catch is that he must eliminate several members of his family in order to become the next successor to the family wealth. Does he have what it takes to murder those who stand in his way? Add in a mistress and fiance and trouble is no doubt going to ensue. Will he make it to the top, or will he make a mistake and be found guilty of murder? You must catch this show to find out! Running at 2 and 1/2 hours with a 15- minute intermission you will be smiling the entire time.
The cast does a wonderful job bringing this comedic story of rags to riches to life. The set is beautiful and the actors’ comedic timing is gold! You don’t want to miss this phenomenal show, so grab your tickets before they sell out and enjoy A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder while you can!
