Gator Spot Opens at Fun Spot in the heart of International Drive

Fun Spot on International Drive recently opened a new area called Gator Spot. This area was opened in conjunction with Gatorland, which is located in Kissimmee. This area opened a few weeks ago and I wanted to see what it was all about so I headed out to Fun Spot to check it out for myself. I wanted to pass along my thoughts on the new area as well as what you should not miss!

First off let’s talk about the basics. This area holds about 100 gators of various sizes including some massive and rare gators. While here, you can watch them, feed them, and in some cases interact with them. The areas are separated by size, which has an area for 2-3 feet gators as well as 5-6 foot gators. Gator Spot is also the home to a rare leucistic gator. This albino gator is only one of 12 in the world. It is rumored that at one point, the folks at Gatorland were offered 3 million dollars by a casino to purchase the gator but they turned them down!

Admission to Gator Spot is only $6.00 and can be used all day. For a small additional fee, you can either feed the gators or you can get your photo taken with a gator and a snake! (Don’t worry, the alligators mouth is taped up so you do not need to worry about getting bit!) I chose to feed the gators for 2 bucks which was fun while it lasted.

There are also some fun interactive things that go on daily at Gator Spot. These times I am guessing change daily so make sure you check but there is a feeding as well as a tour.

I took the tour and was pleasantly surprised at how much I learned and enjoyed it. Not only do you learn about Gator Spot, Gatorland and the gators you also have the opportunity to hold some lizards and baby gators.

I think that Gator Spot is a good addition to Fun Spot both due to the price as well as what they offer. I would say you could spend 30 minutes or more at this attraction which is good for some, however I still recommend Gatorland if you want a half day experience.

Have you experienced Gator Spot yet? What did you think? Comment below and let me know!
