The Florida Aquarium opened a brand new 4-D theater to its patrons at no additional fee!
Fans of the Florida Aquarium rejoice! Are you looking for what’s new at the aquarium? Think you have seen it all? Well we have some exciting news for you! The aquarium just opened its brand new 4-D theater to their patrons and we wanted to share some information on the theater, what you can expect, and what we thought of the two opening shows!
The 4-D theater is located outside the Florida Aquarium by the kids splash pad and seats 50 people at a time. Right now, the shows run every half and hour and rotate between two shows with Happy Feet running on the half hour and Coastal Predators running on the top of the hour. I will get back to my thoughts on both films in a minute!
The theater, which is ADA accessible, will fit 48 people in the specially designed seats and 2 wheelchair patrons for each show. The show combines 3-D movie technology with special effects such as wind, rain, snow, bubbles, scents, and other surprises that completely heighten your experience during the show. Lets take a look at the 2 shows currently running at the Florida Aquarium!
Happy Feet is a play on the movie with shortened scenes. The show showcases some of the highlights of the movie and yes there are still a ton of great toe-tapping musical numbers that you know and love from the movie!
Coastal Predators is a BBC film that showcases nature at its finest when natural predators work together such as dolphins, sharks and whales for a short time to feed on the same food source in the sea. The short film is full of action and has some amazing footage of the hunt for the fish! I thought that kids would be automatically drawn to Happy Feet however seeing a ton of children watching Coastal Predators really showcased that both movies are great for the entire family!
We did ask about changing out the movies and sounds like there are a ton of great choices. As of right now, they are looking to see how each movie does and the demand from the patrons of the aquarium to determine how long the movies will stay. They did say that there is going to be some changes for different holidays which is exciting!
The opening of the theater is another step in the Florida Aquariums mission to bring family-fun entertainment and education to the residence and visitors to Tampa! We would like to thank the Florida Aquarium for having us out to check out your amazing theater and are excited to see what comes next!
