Firehouse Subs is saving lives while delivering amazing food with their new menu items!
Firehouse Subs, which was founded in Jacksonville, Florida 25 years ago, is dedicated to delivering fresh, quality, and great tasting foods to their customers. If you have ever eaten at a Firehouse Subs then you know about the amazing subs that are hearty and flavorful and steamed to perfection on top of their amazing bread, but did you know that just by eating at Firehouse Subs you are contributing to saving lives in your own community?? I had a chance to take a look at the new menu options and learn more about the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation! Let’s start with the yummy food!
I tried my hand at the new Spicy Cajun Chicken Sub first. This sub packs a punch with cajun-seasoned grilled chicken breast, zesty cherry peppers, melted pepper jack cheese, lettuce, onions, deli mustard, and a house made cajun mayonnaise! For those that don’t know, the subs and sauces at Firehouse Subs are given a number based on the spicy scale. This sub comes in at a 5-6 and packs a late heat and a ton of flavor!!!
I also tried the Smokehouse Beef and Cheddar Brisket Sub which consists of USDA choice beef brisket (which is smoked for 16 hours) combined with melted cheddar cheese, mayo, and Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce. I love brisket and this sandwich alone was enough to make me come back for a second right after I did my taste test with the family!!!
I also have a deep passion for the meatball sub which combines beef and pork together with a great marinara sauce and some killer cheese on top! As you can see, half of the sandwich was gone before I realized that I hadn’t taken a picture yet!!!
Ok, so now that you get a great idea about the food, let’s talk about the foundation! The foundation, which was founded in 2005, was started right after the founders’ experience with Hurricane Katrina which rocked the south. The foundation funds come from a combo of things including individual donations, pickle bucket sales, canister donations, and a portion of each and every food purchase you make at Firehouse Subs! To date, the foundation has awarded over $40 million dollars in life-saving equipment to EMS, Fire and Police personnel in 48 states, Puerto Rico, and Canada. To date in Florida alone, $6.2 million dollars have been donated locally! The money that is raised goes to lifesaving equipment, disaster relief, and education to first responders and public safety organizations!
