Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House Makes New Home On International Drive!
Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House has made a return to Orlando. Recently opened, Del Frisco’s has opened their newest location in the heart of Orlando on International Drive with close proximity to the Orange County Convention Center. I was invited to come out to Del Frisco’s to check out a sampling of the menu, to see the new location, and to speak about where the restaurant is headed in the near future.
Before we talk about the food, I wanted to take a minute to talk about the restaurant itself. The restaurant is a mix of elegance and modern combining beautiful paintings and woodwork with iron. This Del Frisco’s is a two story restaurant with two large bars and multiple private rooms that can accommodate small and large parties! With that being said, let’s move on to the food!
Appetizers:
We had a wide variety of appetizers to start out our night! We had:
Petite Crab Cake made with Cajun Lobster Sauce on top of a Basil Brioche
Heirloom Tomatoes & Burrata with Aged Balsamic Reduction & Pesto
Tuna Tartare, Crisp Wonton, Wasabi Cream with Micro Cilantro
Thick Cut Bacon Au Poivre with Bourbon Molasses Glaze
Shellfish Plateau –Chilled Alaskan King Crab Legs, Iced Jumbo Shrimp, Fresh Oysters on the Half Shell, and Chilled Crab Claws
It is seldom that I find myself desiring to return to a restaurant on just the appetizers, however the food at Del Frisco’s did just that. The Shellfish Plateau was great quality and had a great variety of excellent seafood. The Heirloom Tomatoes were perfect with the reduction and pesto, the Tuna was full of flavor and the wasabi added just the right amount of heat. The stars for me however were both the crab cakes and the thick cut bacon!
The crab cakes were just how I like them, a ton of crab and not much filler. Many restaurants go overkill with filler in the crab cakes however Del Frisco’s hit it on the head! The cajun lobster sauce added a touch of flavor and heat making this a killer appetizer! The Bacon with the bourbon molasses glaze made me want to go back for more time and time again!
The Meats:
We sampled 3 different meats which Del Frisco’s is known for. We started out with a Lamb Lollipop with a Pomegranate Mint Glaze which was cooked to perfection. This lamb was the perfect start of our meat tasting! We then had samplings of both the Strip and Filet steak. These steaks came on a hot plate (500 degrees plus) and were seasoned the way a good steak should: just salt and pepper! Both the filet and strip steak were tender, full of flavor and amazing quality. No need for any toppings, special seasonings, or reductions here at Del Frisco’s! They believe that the taste and quality of the steak should be the main attraction!
Desserts:
There was a sampling of the desserts however I was unable to stay due to a work conflict! The other bloggers had a nice sampling of:
Lemon Cake – Lemon Buttercream Icing, Lemon Glaze
Chocolate Souffle Cake –Warm Molten Center Chocolate Cake, Vanilla Ice Cream, Raspberry Sauce
Butter Cake – Butter Pecan Ice Cream, Fresh Whipped Cream & Caramel Sauce
We also had a special cocktail called The VIP, which happens to be Del Frisco’s signature cocktail! This drink contains clementine vodka infused in a full pineapple for 14 days! The drink was refreshing and full of flavor, however I knew I had to be careful with this one because it’s the kind of drink that will catch you off guard if you don’t want how many you have! If you prefer wine, then this is your place as well! The wine list here is phenomenal and quite impressive!
I am so glad that Del Frisco’s is back in Orlando! If you have not been out to Del Frisco’s yet, then you should make a trip! The beauty of the restaurant, friendliness of the staff, and overall taste and quality of the food and drinks makes for a great restaurant! I want to thank the staff at Del Frisco’s for not only their hospitality but also for being one of my new favorites here in Orlando!
