Just looking at the website name, you know we love Orlando, fun and food! Orlando has a ton of both, but it is rare to get all three things in one spot! Dave and Busters on International Drive is just that place for food, fun, drinks, and more! Dave and Busters has 5 current locations in Florida and a ton around the USA. Dave and Busters is a play place for all adults (and kids of course). Where else can you find amazing food, state of the art new games, a amazing bar selection and even a prize area when you are done! Jason went out with Vivian last week to see what the Dave and Busters here in Orlando was all about!
Food:
We started off by eating in the dining area and trying a variety of food. For an appetizer we had the 5:15. The 5:15 is a huge appetizer that is large enough to share with 4 of your friends! This plate has 5 Buffalo Wings with your choice of Ranch or Bleu Cheese dressing; 5 Chicken Quesadilla Wedges with salsa; 5 Pretzel Dogs; and 5 Crispy Fried Shrimp with spicy habañero sauce, complete with a stack of fresh BBQ potato chips. This appetizer was amazing. The wings were crispy and had a great flavor to them. The shrimp were huge and the sauce was killer! For the food lovers, you will highly enjoy this pile of food!
For entrees we decided to order off the Eat and Play menu! The Eat and Play Combo is great for people coming to have fun and eat. This combo gets you an entree from the special menu and a 10 dollar game card that can be upgraded to a 20 dollar card for just a small fee. This combo is a great deal because the combo starts out at 17.99. This makes your meal only 7.99! What a steal!
There are upgraded meals as well and prices go up from there. Vivian decided to have The Mac! and Cheese. The Mac! and Cheese has Grilled seasoned chicken breast and applewood smoked bacon, tossed with cavatappi pasta and creamy aged sharp cheddar cheese sauce. Topped with a garlic breadcrumb crust and baked until brown and bubbly. This dish was great, and Vivian stated it may have been the best Mac and Cheese she has ever had! (Don’t tell her grandma!).
I decided to have the Bistro Steak and Shrimp with Lobster Alfredo Sauce. This dish has a a 5 oz. sirloin steak on a bed of linguine, then top it off with shrimp, mushrooms, roasted tomatoes and a lobster Alfredo sauce. I will admit that I got this dish without the mushrooms because of my allergy, but this dish was amazing! The steak was cooked the way I wanted it, and the shrimp were large and full of flavor. The Alfredo sauce really made this dish for me. It had the right amount of spices added to it and was full of flavor. I loved this dish and will be ordering it again when I come back to Dave and Busters.
For dessert we had the Hot Sugared Doughnut Holes. This dessert had a basketful of warm sugarcoated plain and chocolate donut holes with raspberry and chocolate dipping sauces. The holes were warm when they came to the table and were wonderful. This is a good dessert for a few people to share and the sauces were a great way to change up what you were eating. I loved that there were chocolate and plain doughnut holes to help satisfy cravings of everyone in your party!
There is also a full service bar at Dave and Busters that offers a huge selection of beer, wine, mixed drinks and spirits. Dave and Busters has a ton of drink specials as well as specialty drinks to choose from. The best part is you can order a drink and walk around the arcade and drink while you are playing games. I know that I cannot wait to get back to Dave and Busters and grab a beer and play some games!
FUN:
When you think of most arcades some images pop into your mind. Video games that have lost their flair, and nothing really fun. Dave and Busters has thrown out all the rules of what an arcade is. Yes they have some of your favorites such as skeeball, pinball and some old but good arcade games, however this place specializes in the newest and latest in games and technology. One thing that I loved about the arcade is the try for free option. When I was there, there were a few games that were new and so you could try them for free the first time with a new game card. This really got me hooked on a few games such as the new Batman driving game! Vivian and I had a great time playing at the arcade and collecting a ton of tickets. When we were done we went to the ticket redemption center and Vivian had a blast picking out candy, toys and a glass to take home with her from this amazing spot!
Here are a few things you show know about Dave and Busters:
- Eat and Play Combo is available Sunday-Thursday from open to close. On Friday and Saturday you can only get the combo from open till 5pm.
- When you buy a game card you have to add 2 dollars the first time for activation of the card. After the first time you use the card there is no more activation fee and you can use the credit and the tickets for a later date.
- Game cards can be used at any Dave and Busters!
- Wednesday is half price game day! Every Wednesday you can play each game for only half the credits it normally takes!
Overall, this place is amazing and adds to the value of Orlando. We had a ton of fun playing games, eating food, and seeing who got the most tickets at the end of the day. I know that we will be back to Dave and Busters soon! Have you been to Dave and Busters? If so what did you think? If not, what game looks like fun?
Great Review – We love Dave and Busters! One of my favorite games is the black jack ticket game. You can usually get blackjack pretty easily and the jackpot is 50 tickets or higher every time. Good if you want to add up tickets in a hurry.
My favorite game is monster drop extreme. I have the timing down for this game to get the jackpot (500+ tickets) 1 out of 3 times. I always go on Wednesdays because this games a rip 9.9 credits on non half price days and will just take all your credits away. Once you get the hang of it, its perfect to turn around and make a profit by saving tickets for the higher priced items, like the ipad air (130,000 tickets), ipad mini(105,000 tickets), WiiU( 95,000), Ps3,Xbox/w kinect ( 85,000). One thing to keep in mind is that on half price Wednesdays the eat and play combo isnt availible( well for Orlando it isn’t) i guess they consider it a promotion since they also do not accept coupons on Wednesdays as well.
