Bourbon distilleries can be found all throughout Kentucky, but one place sets apart from the pack… Copper & King American Brandy. The distillery is located in the heart of Louisville and utilizes a traditional distillery technique in a non-traditional way! First off, Copper & Kings specializes in craft Brandy, not bourbon. They specialize in both apple and grape Brandy that is finished in, you guessed it, bourbon barrels!
Secondly is their unique way of aging these spirits. While most in the area utilize the vast temperature changes of the area, Copper & Kings utilizes music to help age their drinks! In the aging room, music speakers and base boxes have been placed throughout to help agitate the barrels! The music changes daily based on the musical preferences of the distillers, the birthdays of the artists, and other fun factors! You can even log on to the website to see what the spirits will be maturing to on their daily Spotify playlist!
The distillery has a unique tour that runs 3 days a week (Friday-Sunday) 3 times a day. This tour gives you the opportunity to take a dive into this unique distillery to get a behind-the-scenes look at how they are created. After the tour, you get to sample some of their unique brandy, some of which are exclusive to the distillery. At the end, if you choose, you can bottle your own bottle right out of the barrel. This tour is unique in the fact that it’s Brandy, their cool flavor profiles, and how progressive they are with mashing up flavors from partner breweries and such in the area!
