When I say we love Columbia Restaurant, I don’t mean we’ve been there a couple of times. I mean it’s practically part of our family story at this point. We’ve dined at Columbia locations across Florida, from Tampa’s Ybor City to Celebration and beyond! However, the St. Augustine location? That one holds a special spot in our hearts.
It’s where history, Spanish-Cuban flavors, and that laid-back Old Florida vibe all come together. Every time we’re in town, we end up here. Not because we can’t try something new… but because Columbia is the kind of “new” that always feels familiar.
What Makes the St. Augustine Location Stand Out
First, the setting. Housed in the historic district, the St. Augustine Columbia has an elegance you can’t fake! We love the wrought iron details, colorful Spanish tiles, and a warm glow spilling out onto the street in the evenings. Step inside, and it’s like you’ve been transported into a Spanish courtyard where the food, the service, and the atmosphere all work in perfect harmony.
Then there’s the way it pairs perfectly with a day of exploring the city. Spend your morning wandering through the Castillo de San Marcos, climbing the lighthouse, or strolling St. George Street, and you’ll find Columbia waiting like an old friend, one who happens to make a killer sangria.
The 1905 Salad: A Family Obsession

Yes, it’s famous. Yes, you’ve probably heard about it. But the 1905 Salad is more than just Columbia’s signature dish… it’s a tradition in our family. We’ve ordered it so many times that our kids could probably recite the recipe. Watching it made tableside in St. Augustine, surrounded by the buzz of the historic dining room, makes it taste even better. PS… if anyone knows how to make this taste just as good at home, please GOD let me know! Im willing to hire a salad maker just for this salad alone!!!
Of course, we don’t stop there. From tender paella to their perfectly seasoned Cuban sandwiches, the food hits every time. And the sangria? Let’s just say I’ve tested it extensively… for research purposes, of course.
Where Family Memories and Florida History Meet
For us, Columbia Restaurant in St. Augustine isn’t just about a great meal. It’s about the way it feels. The clinking glasses, the hum of happy diners, the mix of locals and travelers all gathered under one roof: it’s the kind of place where family stories get told and new ones get made.
And that’s the magic of this location. It’s where our love for Columbia gets wrapped up in the history and charm of the nation’s oldest city.
If you’ve never been, make it happen. If you’ve been before, go back. Some traditions are worth keeping.
Just Go!
