Tex-Mex fans rejoice! Cocina 214 opens location on the beach in Daytona!
Mexican food fans rejoice! Daytona Beach finally has a great Tex-Mex restaurant to delight your taste buds, while showcasing the beautiful beach. Cocina 214 has open one of their restaurants in the heart of Daytona Beach, and I got the chance to check out some of the amazing food and drinks they have to offer.
First off, we can’t even chat about how amazing the food is here without commenting on the view. The restaurant, which is situated on the beach, showcases amazing sliding glass doors that open up to the patio on the oceanfront. These views are only found in some of the best restaurants on the coast of Florida, and Cocina 214 has them beat!
While I was at Cocina 214, I had the chance to check out some of the drink options such as The Blue Agave, the El Diablo, and my personal favorite, the Caliente Casamigos which is a spicy margarita made with serrano peppers!
The real star here at Cocina 214, however, is, of course, the made from scratch Tex-Mex food! For an appetizer, we started out with the Cocina trio which features guacamole, queso, and fire-roasted salsa as well as the guacamole bites which are breaded, lightly fried and served with a chipotle cream sauce.
For entrees, we started out with the brisket tacos. The brisket tacos were made with Beef brisket, pico de gallo, sautéed onions, Monterrey Jack cheese, fire roasted salsa on flour tortillas. These were one of my hands down favorites of the evening with amazing flavor and ample amounts of meat!
Next, we had the Don Carlos tacos. These tacos feature Blackened mahi mahi, coastal slaw, sliced avocado, red bell pepper, jalapeños, and a citrus dressing. These tacos were light, full of flavor and really brought out the beachside!
Lastly, I had to try the Carne Asada as I am a huge fan of skirt steak! This item showcases grilled skirt steak, grilled onions, and peppers, chimichurri salsa, that is served with Mexican rice and black beans! WOW, what an amazing dish that is big enough to share and has so many complex flavors shoved into one dish!!!
For dessert, we started with the skillet brownie. This brownie dish showcases a Venezuelan dark chocolate brownie
with vanilla ice cream, that is drizzled with caramel sauce that bubbles at your table! This dessert is for true chocolate lovers and will satisfy the sweet tooth of even the pickiest of eaters.
Lastly, I had to try the Tres Leches Cake which is a staple item for me to get when out and about at a Mexican or Tex-Mex restaurant. This traditional cake is award-winning at Cocina 214 and is a three milk cake. I love Tres Leches, and Cocina 214’s take on this dish is one to write home about!
Overall, if you are looking for some amazing scratch food and drinks, amazing atmosphere, drinks that will leave you wanting more and views that cannot be beaten at an affordable price, then check out Cocina 214 in Daytona Beach or their Winter Park location! When your there, tell them Jason from OFF On The Go sent you!!!
