SEA LIFE Orlando Opens new turtle fest exhibit and behind the scenes tours!
SEA LIFE Orlando opened two new experiences since our last review and we had the chance to take a look inside both of the new adventures!
Turtle Fest which opened on Earth Day, is an interactive exhibit at the aquarium paying tribute to turtles, tortoises and terrapins. The family-friendly exhibit features several new reptiles, including the Diamondback Terrapin, Northern Red-bellied Cooter, the Australian snake-necked turtle and more.
The exhibit teaches young visitors all about these amazing reptiles, from their environments and diets to how they can help with conservation efforts to protect turtles from habitat loss, pollution and other environmental dangers.
“Florida’s coastal regions are home to a wide variety of turtles, and it is only natural that we would create an exhibit dedicated to this resilient reptile,” said SEA LIFE Orlando Curator Andrew Nerness. “We’re excited to provide kids and families with a fun and educational exhibit in an interactive environment.”
This exhibit is a temporary exhibit and is slated to be here until at least the Fall.
Behind The Scenes Tour:
The Behind the Scenes tour, which opened a few months ago is an add on to the regular ticket price. The Behind the Scenes tour is a 25-minute guided tour where you can learn how the team cares for all of the creatures.
For only five additional dollars you’ll get to explore the inner workings of the Ocean Habitat by taking an exclusive look at the life support systems, salt mixing, food preparation, quarantined animals area and the laboratory. As a special treat, you’ll get to end your tour with an upstairs view of the Ocean Habitat!
The tour gives you a better perspective of the work and dedication of the staff and just what all it takes to run SEA LIFE Aquarium!
